At 5:00 a.m., production begins with machines starting up and daily targets posted. As an Operator 1, responsibilities follow a defined process: review routing instructions, gather required materials, assemble components, complete scans, and move items to the next stage. The work is hands-on and consistent, involving the assembly of real wood components into finished office furniture distributed nationally. Tasks may vary in pace, sometimes requiring efficiency and at other times careful attention to detail, including adherence to basic color theory principles when handling materials or finishes. This role is suited to individuals who prefer structured instructions, physical tasks, and measurable daily output.
This Comstock Park manufacturer produces high end office furniture for commercial spaces nationwide. The facility includes machining, finishing, inspection, and assembly departments operating under one roof with consistent production schedules and long term contracts.
A typical day includes reading routings, assembling raw materials into sub assemblies or finished products, operating basic machines, scanning and tracking production, labeling and packing items, and reporting safety, mechanical, or material issues to the supervisor.
